Detection of clobazam and its metabolites in urine during poisoning using HPLC-QqQ-MS/MS

BACKGROUND: Determining the incidence of acute and lethal poisoning with clobazam remains an urgent task analytical toxicology. The medicinal substance belongs to group benzodiazepines, which is included in list psychoactive substances whose turnover limited because its high toxicity profile overdose abuse.
 AIM: To propose a simple, reliable, sensitive technique for identification metabolite urine by modern high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-QqQ-MS/MS).
 MATERIALS AND METHODS: We have described simple HPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method qualitative determination urine.
 RESULTS: retention time selected chromatography conditions was 5.17 min, (norclobazam) 4.56 min. base peaks norclobazam were 259 m/z 245 m/z, respectively.
 CONCLUSION: For first time, this study provides validated chemical-toxicological examination HPLC-MS/MS, tested both on model mixture real biological matrix patients after taking clobazam. This can be confirmatory research addition clinical picture forensic medical examination.
